Remember tomorrow is the last day of Sven and Ole's Hump Day Buffet until this Fall. Hope to see you there.
The Home page pic of the Beaver House with Ty holding the front of the building up is by the amazing Stephan Hoglund. www.stephanhoglundphotography.com/c/stephanhoglund
Last but not least.
My son Ty sent me this cool graph upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/74/Sodavspopvscoke.png of generic names for soft drinks by county in the United States. As everyone knows we call carbonated soft drinks "Pop" in Minnesota. Check out Lake of the Woods county aka Baudette, it's the only green county in Minnesota. Canadian influence then? Notice also that Michigan, Ohio and Washington are the only solid Pop states. Dang that Baudette!
Last nights trivia results are: (May 13th)
It was Team Bri once again methodically picking away at the questions to place first with 76 pts. and the $75 bucks. Taking second by a whisker was It's the Path, Not the Pizza with 75 pts. and $50 in pizza money.
Starting out like a house a fire was team Wrong Answer as they looked capable of running away with the contest, but suddenly the wheel came off at question number 6. So, they limped into the 3rd slot with 74 pts. and the $25 smackers. Also, putting in a gritting performance and clawing his way from last to 4th place was the always dangerous SS3 with 69 pts. So close, yet so far.
The perplexing question of the night. Multiple choice. Find the Democrat: Hulk Hogan, Bruce Willis, Doris Day, or Dr. Phil. With the answer being Hulk Hogan.

Rounding out 3rd and 4th place were SS3 and It's the Path, Not the Pizza with 73 and 69 pts between the two of them.

Trivia Results
Last Thursdays trivia results were without doubt the closest and hardest fought battle of brain cells that Sven and Ole's Trivia Nite has ever experienced.
In first place for the $75 spot (like the old days) was Thespian Wannabees with 74 pts., and powerhouse Team Bri had a solid lead over the pack until coming up empty after question sixteen, but slid into 2nd place and $50 bucks in college funds with 73 pts.
The teams Rain and Cosmos kicked and scratched their way to 3rd and 4th place with a hit n' miss formula that seemed to work its magic] Name the two most expensive spices in the world. Worth 8pts. total. Good luck searching. PS I'm glad you found me. [Thursday night with nothing to be ashamed of scores of 72 and 71 pts. Good job.
Get your teams together and we hope to see you this Thursday at 7pm.
My pal Tim emailed me some pix he took with his new Hipstamatic iPhone app. He's been going around Grand Marais half nuts snapping pictures of everything that's nailed down. I like the 70's feel to them. See samples below.
Up top. Sorry everyone, but Jeanne Smith got it in about 5 minutes flat with her guess of Sawtooth Cabins No# C2.
Amazing job Jeanne, this Bud's for you!
Got nothing going on tonight? Why not come down to Sven and Ole's for a rousing game of trivia?
